On 27th September… that’s two dozen days hence, I shall be participating in The Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride. This is a sponsored event in support of a number of Prostate Cancer charities; in my case Prostate Cancer UK.
It would be daft for me not to note that here, just in case you were feeling unsure about what to do with that couple of quid… Let me take that uncertainty and confusion from you, and point you here
.
I went to my doctor a while back – probably need to go again really. It was a short visit, no flowers, no chocolates, no conversation lulling me into a false sense of security… just a rubber glove and a sharp intake of breath.
The Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride began in 2012, but this is the first time I shall have participated. The expectation is that around 30,000 motorcyclists will ride out in 400 locations around the world in support of ending prostate cancer; I’ll be riding the Bristol run, from Gordano into the city and beyond.
1,300 people die every day from prostate cancer. I hope not to be one of them. I have a well cushioned saddle.
