You may be interested to know that a recent development in Dursley was told that to go ahead, it would have to re-submit with a footpath facility, for which it would have to buy extra land, because there was no safe pedestrian access to the town from the proposed site.

Thanks. You wouldn’t happen to have a link to the application on the SDC web site?
We’re in limbo at the moment, probably because of the impending election. The one application is awaiting time in the High Courts, and this application is awaiting the publication of the Inspector’s Report, currently expected June or July.
In the meantime, in the next village (almost within a stone’s throw) this particular developer and two others are pushing for 324 new homes, all of the residents of whom will have two commuter routes – one of which is through our village using the same congested road mentioned above. It is a war.

I wish you and the village all the luck in the world, When taking on the developers and the Council. We had dealings with S. Gloucestershire when my dad lived at cribbs causeway,he wanted to build a bungalow opposite his cottage as his health required no stairs, then sell the cottage and move over the road. His land was brown site, which is the nearest to outline planning, rather than build on green site land.
We could not believe the response we got when we submitted the plans. They stated other more suitable land had to be built on first in the surrounding area, ( we found out these sites we green belt, so how was this more suitable, than brown site). Also they wanted for the size plot, three, two bedroomed houses,( Which we considered would have a lot more impact on the neighbours & surroundings, dad wanted low impact to appreciate where he was and keep all trees, which was just as well, as straight away they put a conservation order on every tree even though they were nothing special and he wanted to keep them any way, ( how much did that cost I wonder). And thats one reason he moved here, after fighting the local council for nearly 15 years was getting too old for all this.
And now after moving they have build about 550 new homes, opposite his old house,All of the new patchway,And on his old land three two bedroomed houses, so would one small bungalow have hurt, for a retired gent. All these conditions were imposed by the local council not government ( greed) and his local councillor said she could do nothing as some of the changes affected her & she was not aloud to comment because of this.So I hope you can find some rare insects or plants as common sense does not seem to prevail , but I wish you all the luck in the world, too much building going on & even on flood areas down here , thats another reason we are moving again & also buying with dad, so we can have our rural back for now & help one another in the future, as no one else is going to look after us, so we must plan.Well that was a long rant , over now, hope you are all keeping well & new address to follow ok, love us,xx.
