Spindle trees are fab. Euonymus, so-called Spindle in Britain because its wood was used to make the spindles for spinning wheels – I gather it is tolerant of the friction heat that developed in the spinning of the wheels, as the wool was spun. This one lives in Slimbridge Wildlife and Wetlands Reserve.
