So I’ve got a potential date for this new high speed wireless broadband, and it’s not far in the future. Had a call from Cotswold Telecom last night and a few areas of uncertainty were if not totally clarified at least put to one side. The wireless encryption is apparently military spec and the equipment is used by the military – it ought to be as secure as copper. It’s fully up and downgradable and ten megs is the lite version – it can go to at least 150Mb/s at the flick of a switch. 10Mb/s will allow TV streaming but probably not HDTV; for that we’d need the 30Mb/s package.
Anyhow, waiting is… and for the sake of things here is the best of three tests on today’s copper service.
