Crane in flight

Taken today at WWT Slimbridge, through grubby double glazing. Eurasian Cranes were almost made extinct and were locally extinct, but The Great Crane Project is gently re-establishing this wonderful bird in the west country. This is one of a pair of birds that was built a nest at the far end of WWT Slimbridge‘s lagoon outside the Peng Observatory, coming in to land at the nesting site.

[update: The nest now has an egg! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-gloucestershire-22593559%5D
