Floods

I’m very touched by all the calls, emails and texts we’ve had over the past 48 hours or so, asking if we’re alright amidst the current flood crisis. We are fine.

The floods are terrible for those directly affected by them, but neither the heavy rain nor the floodwater has affected our part of Gloucestershire. Twenty miles north of us is a very different story as I type, and even now at work we’re watching the waters rise at our electricity substation in Gloucester, another one belonging to Central Networks already having been flooded and shut down.

A while ago we were concerned that we might suffer a drought. I feel those who were praying for rain can now stop and consider their successes. A little sunshine would now not go amiss. May the gods that be, agree.
