I’m disappointed to say that my G7, a little over a month old, is on it’s way back under warranty.

On five of perhaps more than fifty start-ups, the camera has failed to correctly extend its len, and has halted with ‘lens error – reset camera’. On one occasion (this morning) the lens zoomed to what seemed beyond it’s design limit without instruction from the zoom control. In most cases a ‘warm reboot’ cured the issue but on two occasions the battery had to be withdrawn and reseated before the lens retracted correctly.

My G2 performed faultlessly for many years – actually still does but I’ve handed it on now (err, mistake!). I have lost a little confidence in my G7.
